Important note on NIS and Workers' Compensation: Guyana's National Insurance Scheme (NIS) provides compulsory baseline workers' compensation for all employees. NIS contributions are 14% of wages (5.6% employee, 8.4% employer). However, NIS does not cover the employer's legal liability for employee injury caused by employer negligence, and benefits are limited.
